Today I want to introduce you to Man meets Bear, a band that must feel at one with the planet Earth. Man meets Bear consisting of Soren Little Brothers (who works as a lake scientist in Ontario), Dave Dunnett and Evelyn Malinowski.
Their latest album, released in Denmark in February 2014, is called „Buffalo Comets”. It’s somewhat folkish but not exactly. Drawn towards a form of expression characteristic for ambient, an unstructured composition creating almost visual effects and rhythm set down by the drum beat.
The lo-fi aesthetics, the sound of chorus and echo effects made me feel I’m somewhere in the middle of the forest listening to the band playing in a cavern, with water dripping from stalactites. Man meets Bear’s music manages to capture vulnerability, fragility of being, it’s sensitive and soothing.
I’m completely hooked on the title track from „Buffalo Comets”.
Make sure you have noticed the album cover’s design, which goes well with the atmosphere their music creates.
