On their debut EP “GO-GO-GO”, up-and-comers from Horsens, BÆNCH, serve us six tracks of pounding drums, angular guitar textures, and vocals that crackle with tension. It’s gritty, sure. But it’s not all noise. Underneath the distortion lives a surprisingly melodic heart, beating fast, full of feeling.

Meet BÆNCH, Denmark’s noise-driven post-punk voice

Coldplay had a beer with White Lies, and then sprinted into a dim, buzzing basement gig where Fontaines D.C., New Order, and Interpol nodded from the crowd. That’s the chaotic beauty BÆNCH captures on their debut EP “GO-GO-GO”. The Danish four-piece from Horsens invites us into their world of late-night urgency and emotional velocity, where nothing stays still and everything feels a little too close to the edge.

A soundtrack for the nights you can’t sleep

The band themselves describe the EP as “running through a city at night — wired, restless, half-lost and half-awake” (press materials). That’s exactly how it sounds. Right from the opening seconds of “Skipped A Step”, there’s no slow build. You’re immediately thrown into the rush. The track is punchy and lean, capturing the frustration of modern disconnection in less than three minutes.

“Fall Behind” offers a shift in pace and mood. It’s darker, more introspective, and undeniably one of the EP’s standout moments. With a sense of melancholia woven through the melody, the song reveals the band’s ability to balance rawness with something more tender. Think Iceage meeting early White Lies in a fog of delayed guitars.

Grit, beauty, and tension in equal doses

While much of “GO-GO-GO” thrives on tension, BÆNCH also know when to hold back. “Wine & Bread” takes its time and gives us space to breathe, or at least to think. The vocals step forward a little more here, and so does the emotional weight. The production remains sharp, but there’s a softness on the edges.

Then comes “Bloody Feeling”, the EP’s closer, which lands like a final exhale after the sprint. It’s still ragged, still bruised, but there’s something human in its unraveling. The chaos becomes catharsis. The door doesn’t close quietly, but it does close.

Not just another post-punk band

There’s no shortage of post-punk-inspired acts out there, but BÆNCH carve out a space of their own by pairing their urgency with intention. There are shades of Interpol’s cool detachment, the relentless pulse of Iceage, and the shoegaze atmospherics of Slowdive, but BÆNCH never feel like copycats. Instead, they feel like a band in motion, figuring it out in real time and letting us watch.

The buzz around BÆNCH is deserved. Named as one of VEGA’s Rising Artists for 2025, with festival slots at SPOT and Roskilde, it’s clear they’re on the move. Literally and musically.

“GO-GO-GO” is for anyone who’s ever felt too much at once and needed music that runs at their pace. It’s restless, heartfelt, and loud in all the right ways.
