Top 5 Danish acts at Reeperbahn Festival

Every year the German and international music scene meets at Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg – just four hours south of Aarhus, Denmark. If, like us, you are meticulously following Danish music, you’ve come to the right place. We are honoured to return to the German harbour city for another edition of this amazing festival. Naturally, we’ve combed through the extensive Reeperbahn Festival 2024 program (18. – 21. September) to curate your ultimate guide to the TOP 5 Danish music acts. Let’s dive in!

Clothing Club

Clothing Club at Reeperbahn Festival 2024

This is a delightful surprise! Clothing Club, a trio consisting of Deepchain (keys), Phairo Z (drums) and M.S. Lowkey (bass), delivers refreshing sounds we didn’t expect as Reeperbahn Festival historically featured mostly rock and pop music. In preparation for this year’s festival, we listened to their newly released debut album “Fresh Fade” and were impressed. If we were to describe Clothing Club’s sound, it would be like a laid-back, worry-free summer day, creatively blending elements of hip-hop, jazz and house. We can’t wait to catch their show for a little inspiring chill amid the festival’s frenzy.

Don’t miss their show on Thursday, 5.10-5.50pm at the cozy little HÄKKEN.

Dillistone

Dilligate

Dillistone is Morten Aamodt, born in Copenhagen and raised between Denmark and Shanghai. Describing himself as “lovechild of Copenhagen, Shanghai, London and Berlin” on Soundcloud, he has developed a unique style over the years. As a DJ, his musical foundation was built on future bass, downtempo, and melodic house. Today, Dillistone combines intimate vocal performance with melancholic dance productions. His latest single “All My Love” (2024), billed as “the new soundtrack for your upward spiral,” is a vivid example of his style. We’re excited to see what he has in store for us at his show in Hamburg.

Dance to the sounds of Dillistone on Friday, 00.15-01.00 am at the eclectic 25 Club.

PRISMA

PRISMA

PRISMA, consisting of sisters Frida and Sirid Møl Kristensen, has come a long way since their debut single Dear Jane in 2020 (read our interview from back then here). Their genre-bending music, ranging from delicate to intense, never ceases to amaze us. We witnessed their powerful, crowd-pleasing performance at Reeperbahn Festival in 2021 and wrote: “PRISMA show that they are extremely well prepared to deliver a great live experience while staying cool and visibly enjoying the performance themselves. It is a tight concert, where you can see the live band that makes you wanna dance, jump, clap your hands and forget the outside world for a while.” With their debut album “Something To Respond To” released in April, we’re eager to see what the sister duo has in store for us this year in Hamburg!

Catch them on Thursday, 10.50 – 11.50 pm at the scenic St. Pauli Kirche.

Trentemøller

Trentemøller at Reeperbahn Festival 2024

It’s safe to say that this is the act we’re most excited about at this year’s Reeperbahn Festival. And let’s be honest, Trentemøller is likely the artist we have written the most over the years. He has continually reinvented himself, moving from minimal to electronica to dreampop and shoegaze, without ever losing his signature melancholic touch. There’s also a new album on the horizon called “Dreamweaver”. The label In My Room describes it as “an exceedingly immersive experience, bound to release any dormant hallucinations you may be harboring”. We believe this to be true and can’t wait for the full Trentemøller experience at Hamburg’s beautiful concert hall Elbphilharmonie! Our accreditation for this once-in-a-lifetime event is still pending, but fingers crossed we get in! Keep a close eye on our Instagram at @GoodBecauseDanish for updates.

Make sure to register in advance if you want to see Trentemøller on Friday, 7.30-8.45 pm at probably the most extraordinary venue at Reeperbahn Festival 2024, Elbphilharmonie.

BÆNCH

BÆNCH at Reeperbahn Festival 2024

BÆNCH is a young post-punk and rock band with a moody yet dynamic sound. Their debut single “Skipped a Step” (2024) and a powerful performance at this year’s SPOT festival made quite an impression. Their music features an interesting mix of longing, distorted vocals, and energetic tempos. “Skipped a Step” quickly found its way into our private playlists. The Reeperbahn Festival website praises BÆNCH for having “a quotable sound that takes many cues from legends of psychedelic rock from the late 1970s to the British garage rock revival of the early 2000s”. We can’t wait to shake our hips (and hair) at their show during Reeperbahn Festival 2024!

BÆNCH play a sweet and short set on Friday, 7.00 – 7.35 pm at the legendary rock venue Headcrash.
