KIM is a golden child of pop at its best quality – that’s what we think at least, after listening to his debut album “Under Pressure”. We recommend you to press play to what will soon become a soundtrack of summer 2017 for you (we assure you!).
Danish music can be surprising and is definitely very various – you can find true gems in basically every genre. If you’re into pop and you look with nostalgia to 80’s and 90’s music – KIM has an album for you!
From the very first song – “Hungry Hearted People” – to the very last one “Under Pressure” – KIM’s music brings a smile to my face. It’s joyful, full of life, sweet like honey and everything is in the right place like in the Rubik’s cube. The nine composition on “Under Pressure” album are organized in a whole which is catchy; on the edge of cheesy, but not crossing it. The flow of the album is perfect for a summer afternoon before going out to enjoy a summer night.
But underneath a sunny, positive atmosphere of the music one can also find melancholy on KIM‘s album. However, the strongest part of “Under Pressure” is definitely the upbeat, groovy vibe. With “Choirboy” outstanding duo with Christine Milton and dance-able tracks like “Low” (from KIM’s debut EP) – I think this debut shows there is still a lot to do with pop (or maybe indie-pop?) music and it doesn’t have to be flat and predictable.
