New York-based Danish darling Fjer returns after almost two years of musical silence with electronic banger “Her Turn”. The atmospheric, hypnotic single immediately attracts every bit of attention and introduces us to a new face of Maja Barløse.
Gone are the melancholic, nostalgic string and piano compositions from her last EP “Beautiful Home” or the frightened soul we heard and saw in latest single and video “Stairs”. What is left is Fjer’s beautifully mesmerizing voice and a young artist who not only went through a creative period but also a personal metamorphosis, turning into a visibly strong woman who is not afraid of asking questions and demanding her piece of the cake.
Producer Lennart Rasmussen – Kill J’s former sidekick – added some nice, deep layers of synths to Fjer’s own sensual and feminine musical universe. While the relaxing sounds simulate an effortless, chill summer track, the lyrics actually approach the frustration of nagging self-doubts and the feeling of being out-shined on private and professional level. One can only imagine what powerful outcome a woman’s frustration can bring!
