The 13.edition of CPH:DOX will take place from 05. to 15. November 2015. Besides more than 200 films, the festival’s calendar also features several other kinds of events. There are numerous music documentaries, concerts or audio-visual-installations in it – a part of the programme that we are especially excited about!
Since we (unfortunately) cannot see everything, we had to make a choice and here is our little selection! Find the first part of our recommendations for CPH:DOX 2015 below.
“Blur: New World Towers”
Does it really need an explanation? You probably also grew up with Blur in your (pre-) teenager years, and was left devastated as they tragically announced that they had split. For you this film by Sam Wrench will hence be more like a fairy tale than a documentary, since it tells the story of the reunification of the band and the creation of their latest album, “The Magic Whip”, released this year.

Den Sorte Skole vs. Dark Matters
Den Sorte Skole has just released their new album “Indians & Cowboys” on 26. October, so this will be the perfect occasion to hear it live and experience Simon Dokkedal and Martin Højland’s extraordinary broad sound universe. They will be accompanied by the visual animations of the artist Dark Matters. A show is also scheduled in Aarhus!

Eerie Glue + GENTS
Two young Danish bands are joining forces to celebrate their individual take on youthful dreams and love: horror-fuzz/love-pop quartet Eerie Glue and kitschy synth pop duo GENTS will not only cater for the musical entertainment on this “night dedicated to love”, but also for the visuals during their shows!

Jonathan Johansson vs. Erik Gandini
Who said that pop cannot be serious? With his new album “Lebensraum!”, Swedish Jonathan Johansson cleverly combines the sweetest and most danceable pop with sharp social criticism and heavy lyrics about the current political situation in Europe. The result is quite powerful since the listener is, in a way, forced to reflect about the situation, feeling awkwardly torn between the desire to dance and have fun and a certain guilty conscience. The concert will have its very own visual show designed by another politically engaged Swede, Erik Gandini, who is also presenting his new film “The Swedish Theory of Love” during the festival.

DOX:JAZZTÅRNET
This year’s CPH:DOX will turn the iconic, green bridge tower at Knippelsbro into a temporary music film gallery dedicated to jazz music. On 9. November, there will be a kick-off event with The Cabin Project to start a whole series of exciting, free (!) pop-up concerts at the so-called DOX:JAZZTOWER.
