Jacob Bellens, one of my personal favorite DK lyricists, will release his new solo album on 22. September 2014. For now, in June, he presented a first single from it – “My Convictions”.
The I Got You On Tape and Murder vocalist was always showing a more rough, melancholic and acoustic face in his solo work and that hasn’t change this time either. “My Convictions” is a song which once again highlights Jacob Bellens’ remarkable vocals. You can’t compare it to anything else. The unique vibe simply drills into you.
Another characteristic thing with Bellens’ solo work is that the music is kind of demanding. There is no rush in the songs, no fireworks, no huge production and arrangements. The key to the beauty is – simplicity and always well-thought lyrics. The best part is that it’s simple, but never boring. “My Convictions” proves it again. The main melody stays with you for a long time after the first (and probably not the last) listen.
