For all music lovers out there, summer means only one thing… SUMMER FESTIVALS!
Each year we wait for them, we save money for them, we get excited about them. This year is no exception. Summer events all around Europe invited some pretty awesome bands to play – among them, also some great Danish artists! We decided to track them down. So, Good because Danish went through the line-up’s of MANY of European summer festivals and here are the results:
The bands that are playing A LOT in Europe this summer are definitely Volbeat, Trentemøller, Go Go Berlin, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour and MØ. But you can catch some other groups, too! Find some of the festivals we recommend below.

Sweden Rock Festival

When we think “Sweden” and “music”, we have in mind the big names from the electronic world: Robyn, Fever Ray, The Knife… But turns out that Swedes also like good rock music! Since 1992 they listen to it on Sweden Rock Festival. This year the festival is almost sold out and on stage, among Black Sabbath and Alter Bridge, there will be Volbeat and Pretty Maids from DK playing! \m/
Festival EUROPAVOX

During its ninth edition, the French Festival EUROPAVOX opens its stages to a bunch of the hottest and most promising, young Danish music acts this year: we love seeing the names of Linkoban, Baby in Vain, Lydmor and Bon Homme in the line-up!
Field Day Festival

Field Day in Victoria Park in London was labeled as “annual hive of hipsters” (The Guardian) and an event mixing “indie, dance and DJ’s from the ‘cooler’ end of the musical spectrum” (Q Magazine). This year’s cool line-up includes Tomas Barfod who is releasing his new album “Love Me” on 9. June, so be prepared for some really fresh stuff coming from stage!
VOLT Festival

Sziget Festival in Hungary already announced 49,2% of its line-up and we couldn’t find a Danish name on it (so far). But! We already know that the giants of rockabilly/heavy metal music are coming to play to the country’s VOLT Festival! Last year Turboweekend conquered one of the stages, now it’s time for Volbeat. They are one of the most famous Danish bands abroad and they tour A LOT this summer to prove it.
Open’er Festival

Poland can be proud of Open’er Festival – a real summer festival. One of the things that MØ fans from Poland can be happy about is that she will play in Gdynia!This Danish girl is a real sensation and she will definitely play one hell of a show. Rock Werchter Festival

“Rock Werchter is a story of people and moments. A first Werchter is like a first school trip, a first kiss … It is a poignant event, a lasting memory. That was the case in 1975 and that will still be the case in 2025″ – do you need anything more to know about Rock Werchter Festival to want to go there? Maybe just that Agnes Obel and Trentemøller are playing there this year.
Les Eurockéennes de Belfort

26 years of festival tradition and the title of being “The French Glasto” sound promising! The 3-days independent festival Eurockéennes de Belfort is an event which invites new as well as well-established European and international bands to play. This year there will be two totally different Danish acts coming: MØ and Volbeat (…we told you these acts are touring like crazy in 2014!).
Festival Bažant Pohoda

“Festival Pohoda started in 1997 as one day event which has gradually grown into one of the most visited multicultural open-air event in Slovakia“. Music, art, theater, modern dance, literature and much more – everything gathered in the area of the Trenčín airport. In the music line-up of 2014: the great When Saints Go Machine, Analogik and Broke from Denmark. Nothing’s missing!
Sόnar Festival

“Sónar is constantly on the pulse of the current electronic music landscape”. The event is a unique place to experience the changes and innovations that are going on in modern music, new media and art. Since Danish artists are definitely among some of the most innovative ones, this year’s Sónar line-up contains the crème de la crème of them: Trentemøller, WhoMadeWho and MØ.
Colours Of Ostrava

The Czech Colours of Ostrava has by now definitely become one of the hottest summer festivals, taking place right in the heart of Central Europe. With an awesome atmosphere, Ostrava created a festival environment friendly for all kinds of music. This year, among the diverse line-up: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, MØ and Trentemøller.
MELT!
18-20.07.2014 – Gräfenhainichen, GERMANY – Event on Facebook
If you ever get the chance to experience MELT! festival, don’t dare to say “no” to it! A remarkable setting, unforgettable atmosphere and great line-ups mostly presenting electronic music to the people. And the cult festival loves Danish electronic – that’s why it once again invited WhoMadeWho to play the material from their latest album “Dreams”. We are certain: it will be huge!
Positivus Festival
18-20.07.2014 – Salacgriva, LATVIA – Event on Facebook
Get Your Gun are going to Lativa this July to be a part of Positivus Festival 2014 – the biggest summer event of the Baltic countries area. MØ is also playing there – this girl will have to take well-deserved holidays after her crazy summer of touring! The lucky people at Positivus will be able to enjoy the concerts of these 2 Danish acts in the idyllic location of Latvia’s beautiful coastal region.
FM4 Frequency Festival
13-16.08.2014 – St. Pӧlten, AUSTRIA – Event on Facebook
Austria knows which Danish band can bring the most summerish atmosphere to them… of course, The Eclectic Moniker and so they will play FM4 Frequency Festival this year! Lowlands Festival
15-17.08.2014 – Biddinghuizen, NETHERLANDS – Event on Facebook
The Netherlands will welcome another edition of Lowlands this year. An event mixing literature, comedy, art and music. In said last part of the program there will also be place for the two Danish bands that seem to play the biggest amount of summer festivals this year: The Asteroids Galaxy Tour and Volbeat.
MS Dockville
15-17.08.2014 – Hamburg, GERMANY
The wonderful city of Hamburg will again provide sea-atmosphere and a dose of good music and chilling vibes during MS Dockville in August. The Hamburgers seem to really like Danish music and during the festival they will be able to enjoy concerts of two “Danish princesses” coming from very different ends of the music scene: MØ and Broken Twin.
