The new indie record label – Antiphonics – has a lot of treats for us these days! We already mentioned the nice debut album from Quick Quick Obey on the blog, now it’s time for Waitress.
This Swedish-Danish trio based in Copenhagen is “as scandinavian hip as possible” – says the description under their single “Young In Mind”. After listening to the song we must admit – it’s a pretty true statement.
Waitress serves nice, chillout guitar sounds, smoothly combined with melodic vocals and a tiny bit of dreamy electronic touches here and there. But not everything is shiny happy in their music. As befits the Scandinavian band – they add some melancholy with the lyrics.
However, “Young In Mind” is a nice spring-summer song. Perfect to play in the background while driving for a long weekend spent with friends. During such trip everything seems easy and simple, as during listening to Waitress.
