Light, graceful, pleasant. In addition, with undefinable emotions. Treefight For Sunlight. A wonderful LP, which is difficult to get over, once listened to. If you enjoyed The Eclectic Moniker (nordic-music.blogspot.com music discovery), there is a likelihood, that (like me) you will fall in love with Treefight For Sunlight. The group consists of 4 young Danes. Mathias Sørensen (drums, vocal), Morten Winther Nielsen (guitar, vocal), Christian Rohde Lindinger (bass, vocal) and Niels Kirk (piano, vocal) have already recorded their very first LP “A Collection Of Vibrations For Your Skull” (released in 2010 with the watermelon cover and then, again in 2011), where you may find 10 tracks, all of them absolutely bright.
Music of this band takes us for the unusual journey. Me, when I was listening to the first song “A dream Before Sleep”, went to the unknown, fairy tale-like land. And then I followed the four Danes to the ship and a sea-trip – because of “They Never Did Know” (the live version sounds perfect). The guitars are like sailor songs and the flute brings something light and interesting. Treefight For Sunlight took me also to the beach, playing joyful “Facing the Sun”. We’ve also made a picnic, listening to “Riddles In Rhymes” and experienced a summer rain thanks to the piano in “Rain Air”.
Listening to the LP „A Collection Of Vibrations For Your Skull” one may travel to various places. And all those mini musical trips are served in a beautiful form, delicate and subtle. However, so that it wouldn’t be to idyllic, the last track “Time Stretches” (again – an amazing live version) introduces a bit of consternation.
At times, in the sounds of Treefight For Sunlight, somewhere behind the main melody I hear music of Mew, but it’s very subtle. There are also some features of the Violen’s atmosphere and Empire of The Sun vocals. All in all, however, what does Treefight For Sunlight create is really unique. The very best part of the album is, withous a doubt, the first single “What Become OF You and I”, which you may download at this website.Everytime I listen to „A Collection of Vibrations For Your Skull” those sounds take me to different places. Try to travel with Treefight For Sunlight, you may be surprised where you’ll end up.
