We saw the Danish punks Firs back in summer, at Uhørt 2019, where their setlist consisted of yet unreleased songs from their debut EP “Det Svimler”. Ever since we have been looking forward to hearing those again!

We love catchy radio pop as much as the next music website, but every now and then it is so refreshing to stumble upon something earnest. The sound of Firs is influenced by the 80s’ punk rock and poetry scene, which clearly shows in their lyrics too. Themes of desperation and anxiety are scattered around the 4-track EP “Det Svimler”, intensified even further by Mathias Winther Kjeldsen’s insistent vocals. However, amid all the gloominess of the EP, the band still make room for glimmers of love, hope and danceable hooks.

On 13. February we make our way to Stengade, eager to celebrate the release. Not sure who was more excited – Firs or the numerous fans who had filled the venue almost to the capacity. The former treat us to popcorn, and can barely contain the smiles on stage. The latter know all the words to the songs that had been out for only a day.

See the gallery below to get an impression of our unforgettable evening with Firs.
