CPH: DOX 2018 is taking place this year from 15. to 25. March. Like in the past years, the program is spectacular. Part of the 200+ screenings and 600+ social events is an extensive program dedicated to music. As time and possibilities are limited to take part in every event, screening or performance we present you ten events you should not miss this year. We hope to see you there!

10 events to check out at CPH:DOX 2018: part 2

Choir of Young Believers

We were very excited to see that Choir of Young Believers is part of this years program. Those of you who watched “Broen” (“The Bridge”) a Danish-Swedish police series should know their music or at least one of their songs – “Hollow Talk”. The dark and melodic track is the theme song and fits perfectly to the series’ dark and often foggy scenes in Copenhagen and Malmö. The band around the singer Makrigiannis from Copenhagen promises a very special evening with their dark lyrics and dreamy synth-pop melodies combined with beautiful visuals.

EXEC vs. “LoveSex”

Never heard of EXEC? Perhaps the name Troels Abrahamsen rings a bell. The Danish producer and singer-songwriter is no other than VETO’s front singer. He composed the music to the mini-documentary series “LoveSex” showing three Danish adolescents’ relationship to love and sex. After the screening, EXEC with a piano will take over the stage for the audience to venture into the fantasy world of young romance.

The Goodiepal Equation

Never heard of Goodiepal before? His real name is Parl Kristian Bjørn Vester and is born in the Faroe Islands. The exceptional life of Goodiepal is reflected in the wide variety of his work and talent. He keeps on reinventing himself and his artistic work while always being accompanied by the presence of a hereditary disease. The musician and composer of computer music gives lectures and heads the electronic music department at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, he builds a bike rocket and sells it to the National Gallery of Denmark and “borrows” a supercomputer from Royal Academy of Music to improve it – of course, they kicked him out afterwards. Watch the documentary to see the man‘s unusual ideas become reality.

Iris Gold

Don’t miss out on Danish-Jamaican artist Iris Gold giving a free (yes, free!) concert at Bremen Teater. She grew up in the well-known commune Christiania in Copenhagen and supported Blur on their tour. She just released her new single “All I really know” November last year and promises unexpected summer vibes with her feel good hip-hop and R’n’B beats.

Saint Cava

Saint Cava are producer Andreas Waze and singer Ericka Casier Ramos Lizardo from Copenhagen. The Duo is known for their dark rhythmic R’n’B beats and their two singles “No One’s God” and “Deeper”. In 2015 they released their first breakthrough EP “Bliss” and demonstrated their talent at Roskilde Festival. This year, in 2018, they finally release their long-awaited album. At Hotel Cecil they will be accompanied by dynamic visuals.
