Sundays - Carry Me

The new year with Danish music started very well for us, with several treasures, that we found on the more electronic side of music. They invited us to dance or to indulge in synth-like tunes. But there is also another side of the Danish music universe. One of the best examples during the last months is the North Jutlandic band Sundays, which is centering around Magnus Jacobsen.

Magnus, who represents Sundays’ vocals and guitar, might be recognized from the modern rock quartet Dance With Dirt. But here he delights us with a mix of folk-like, simple sounds, hymn moments and pop elements. Even if in the first moment you might think that “Carry me”, one of the singles of their soon to be launched EP, has to be the newest track of one of the North American singer-songwriters, it soon becomes very clear that the song has Scandinavian roots.

Especially the combination of intense lyrics and a strong melody convinced us that “Carry me” is the perfect track for a relaxed, but also emotional weekend. And that fits because actually thoughts about “weekends” are a big part of Sundays’ debut EP called “The day will come”. This release, consisting of five tracks, evolves around the question that Sundays work as “a connector between the chaotic weekend and the predictable, everyday life. A day where feelings and impressions can be clear as day or one big blur, and where everything is both possible and impossible”, as Magnus explains it.

After debuting at SPOT Festival 2016, Sundays have only played a handful of live shows so far. But when looking at their intense melodies and strong lyrics, we can’t wait to hear more of them live! So – keep an eye on Magnus Jacobsen, who is supported by Nick Valentin (acoustic guitar, keys & backing vox), Marie Linander ( bass & backing vox) and Morten Falk (drums, keys & backing vox). In February and early March all of you, who live in Denmark, can look forward to live shows full of emotions when they will play in Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg.

For all who can’t wait, have a look at the video for “Carry me” -and watch out, a new single called “Changing” will also be launched during the next days!
