Via Mala, with their debut EP “Out Of Sight”, give a great example that rock music inspired by bands like Nirvana, Mother Love Bone or Pearl Jam is still alive. Maybe there is not much more innovation we can hear in it, but the tradition and the spirit makes it still attractive for the listener.
The EP “Out Of Sight” contains five deep grunge compositions, with slightly lazy-whining guitar riffs, scratchy, yet very melodic vocals and the atmosphere of a dark basement filled with records, where we can spend hours without any contact to the outside world. There is a Soundgarden song called “Blow Up The Outside World”. That’s something you kind of do when you listen to Via Mala’s EP.
