SonarCPHXBorn in sunny Barcelona 21 years ago, Sónar established itself within the past decades as pathbreaking, international festival format for Advanced Music and New Media Art. The fine reputation it nowadays enjoys is definitely based upon the balance Sónar managed to keep within its cultural programme, which always allowed space for experimantation with the newest trends in the fields of electronic dance music.

The act of “merging” generally seems to be Sónar’s hobby horse. It is not only a festival that brings together established artists with upcoming talent, but also a place where different areas of artistic production interact. Audio meets visual. Creativity meets technology. Industry meets audience. Global meets local.

While constantly developping the activities in the Catalan home base to further levels, Sónar is since 2002 also bringing its spirit to special venues and environments to many different parts of the world. The so far more than 50 events around the globe focussed on highlighting exciting local talents and the scene in the particular host city. After touring in hip spots like Reykjavik, New York, London, Buenos Aires, Seoul, Toronto, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Lisboa – among many other destinations – Sónar Festival is finally coming to Copenhagen for the very first time!

On 13. and 14. March 2015, Sónar Copenhagen will show how the philosophy of the Barcelona based festival can translate to the Danish music scene.

The official press info describes Sónar Copenhagen as “an event for those who truly seek a special music experience by those performing it”. More important than size of stage or audience, is “the unique relationship that forms and the memories for all involved”.

Besides promising international headliners such as Metronomy or Factory Floor, some of Good because Danish’s favorite electronic acts will be representing the local music scene at DR Koncerthuset. We feel certain that, apart from “godfather” Trentemøller, it will be names like Kenton Slash Demon, T.O.M. and his Computer, Kasper Bjørke, Sekuoia, Darkness Falls, AV AV AV, October Dance, Taragana Pyjarama and Kwamie Liv that make sure to deliver the same standard of quality and expertise the original event is known for!
