The Vienna-based festival Waves Vienna started in 2011 and is the city’s first club and showcase festival.
During the festival numerous international alternative, electronic, rock, and club acts are performing around Vienna. Waves Vienna’s motto is “East meets West“ which means that it is focused mostly on the Central and Eastern European music industry. So, local artists and sophisticated musicians from Eastern Europe form an essential part of the festival’s program. Another important part of the festival for its delegates is the Waves Music Conference: it offers keynotes, panels, showcases, guided tours and workshops.
Between 2. and 5. October 2014, over the course of 4 days more than 70 national and international acts will be performing on 12 different stages of Waves Vienna 2014. You can expect a tasty blend of the best in dance, indie and everything in-between. It is estimated to be around 15.000 guests visiting the festival.
Since 2012, Waves Vienna invites so-called “Guests countries” – 2 countries that the festival takes a special look at. After France and Poland in 2012 and Slovenia and Belgium in 2013, it is Croatia and The Netherlands this year. In 2013 Waves Vienna started a series of club concerts in Bratislava, and named this “sister-event” Waves Bratislava. This year you’ll be able to catch Sekuoia playing in Bratislava on the 3. October at 21:00 in Klub Dole!
Already in its first year, Waves Vienna invited some big Danish names to play: Reptile Youth, Figurines, WhoMadeWho, When Saints Go Machine and Kenton Slash Demon. Since then also Nive Nielsen & The Deer Children, Rangleklods, Bottled In England and Iceage visited the Austrian capital during the festival.
