From the very first moment they showed up on the Danish music scene, they caught attention. Cancer. A duo consisting of Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild from When Saints Go Machine and Kristian Finne Kristensen, better known as Chorus Grant.
The band played their first show ever last year at SPOT Festival, then they were on stage at Trailerpark Festival 2013. This year Cancer will release their debut EP “Ragazzi” (premiere: 9. June) and will perform at Roskilde Festival. All of this happened without releasing a single song. But the time has finally come.
Yesterday the official premiere of “Same Color As Digital Photography” was held by The FADER. I must admit, when I first listened to the song, I had mixed feelings. But here I am, still listening to it on repeat the second day in a row. Why? Good because Danish’s guess is, it’s because two such unique and talented musicians simply can’t go wrong. Sometimes it just takes time to appreciate.
The one and only vocals by Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild are mesmerizing and the musical arrangement created by Cancer catches this short moment of a fader stopping in the air, while gently falling to the ground… Find out yourself, if this project’s charm is something for you.
