novemberdecemberreview

Even though we openly swooned over the guys of NovemberDecember, caught their amazing release concert in Copenhagen and listened to their debut album “From the Swing, Into the Deep” a great number of times – it took me this long to finally throw a few words about said record, which was already released on 20 January, onto the blog.

The talented musicians behind the Aarhus-based band show on the whole album their ability to create melodic soundscapes through the fine use of multiple instruments and concerted vocal harmonies. In fact the guys are not only well skilled on strings & Co. but all five have great voices, too. Just as their single “Save Yourself” that was released last fall, the whole album has a very calming, relaxing vibe about it – thanks to its strong, authentic melodies.

Probably influenced by their bandname (which we btw think is quite lovely, GAFFA!), most parts of the music seem perfect for the darker months of the year, but songs like “What We Know” and “The Fountain” will work just as well on a mild evening in Spring.

Anyway, what one can say for sure – and what we were lucky enough to witness live on their concerts – the guys of NovemberDecember seem to have a damn lot of fun to play and to play together. It’s some sort of common dedication and loving for each of their pieces you can just as much grasp when listening to the record
